2007 Photo Essay

[From the cameras of Tucker Taft, Warren Williams & Larry Libow]

Gail & Paula arrive

Getting heat assignments for the hurdles and sprints

I think this is Paula Fortuna, Hillen von Maltzahn and Susan Wiemer starting the 60m

At the finish

In the red is Kim Williams in her 60m heat

Some of you may have noticed Vincent Kotowski's "mug shot" on the About Us page.
He'd like you to know that was actually taken for a hack license when he drove a cab
in Springfield. This is a better shot of one of our newest hurdler/jumpers

John Oleski & Bob Marchetti waiting to long jump

Brian Rowles also at the jumps

Mike Travers contemplating his next jump

Bob in red, John in blue (hopefully not for long)

Dr. Bill Wright, a long-time fixture at area track meets will probably
be joining MVTC soon

I believe this is the start of the 400m with Gail and Paula (in red).

Rounding the turn in the 400m is Roger Pierce in the foreground
and Tucker Taft in the background

At the finish

Ralph Souppa starting the second lap in the 400m

At the finish

In this 800m heat we see the (red) torso of John Saxelby with Rich Clark on the inside
and, in the red MVTC singlet, Jon Tetherly

Also running in the 800m was 90-year-old Bob Matteson. I'd like to point out
that Bob ran just about every event. For instance, as soon as he finished the
800m, he was back on the track running the 200m. Unbelievable!

A better shot of John Saxelby ...

... and Jon Tetherly

I believe this is a 200m heat with (L-R) Gail, Paula and Laura Barre

Kim Williams in the 200m

Considering it's called the Dartmouth Relays, MVTC fielded a mixed 4x200 relay.
Starting off (in lane 3) is Susan Wiemer.

Susan passes off to Bob Marchetti.

This appears to be a shot of how NOT to pass the baton
from second to third leg (Bob Marchetti to John Saxelby).

This appears to be a shot of how to pass the baton
from third leg to anchor (John Saxelby to Roger Pierce).

At the conclusion of the relay and the Masters portion of
The Dartmouth Relays

From left - Laura, Kim, Gail, Hillen, Paula and Susan
(Only one of the above is not a member of MVTC - guess who, Hillen?)

Getting ready to head out
Ralph Souppa...

Larry Libow (in red) and John Oleski talking about USATF-NE business

"Smilin" Roger Pierce

A great meet was had by all. Thanks to everyone who came and my apologies to anyone who might have inadvertently been left of of the photos. I should also mention that this was the first meet Lee Hess (back to photographer, in black sweatsuit) has competed in since his hip socket injury in July. It doesn't look like it's affected his speed at all. Next up for the gathering of the MVTC clan will be the GBTC Invitational on the 21st.
