Reasons Goals for Sprinting: In the beginning, just to see if I could do it and what it was all about. Now that I'm hooked, to continue to improve my times while enjoying the competition and the comraderie of my fellow sprinters.

Comments: If you're just getting started, it really does take about two years (thank you Roger) to figure out what kind of training works for you, what races to run and how to approach them, and to get over the aches and pains that arise from subjecting your body to stresses that are specific to sprint training and competition.
