Welcome to the Mass Velocity Track Club

The day was clear and cold, but the temperature inside the Gordon Track Facility at Harvard was just right. Unlike the crowds and chaos at last week's BU Invitational, this meet was orderly and moved along - almost keeping on time.

Lee Hess was nursing an injury so he was working the meet in his capacity as a USATF-NE official. John Oleski was jumping, David Galligani was sprinting and Mary Harada was running the distance events. John Novak made the trek up from Conn and along with Mike Travers, Dave Neumann, Roger Pierce, Charlie Kelley, and I, represented Mass Velocity. (Who'd I miss?).

Also representing our club were three other sprinters, who don't necessarily get the coverage they deserve - Paula Fortuna, Laura Barre and Gail Johns-Rees. Mass Velocity is lucky to have the rarest of Master Sprinters - women Master sprinters. So it's my pleasure to offer a few shots I got off before I had get into my 200m heat. My apologies to Laura for not getting any shots of her. Gail warned me about no close-ups so I might need another apology.

If anyone else has a digital camera I encourage you to bring it to the meets. If you have a spouse who knows how to use one and is willing to come to the meet, even better.
